SoundCloud is looking for an Interaction Designer to join the Design Team. You’ll be working on our mobile suite (web, Android, iOS) to make sure our users have the most simple and pleasurable experience possible on the small screen.

You will be responsible for:

  • Developing a consistent set of interactions that will ensure that users have a solid, simple and enjoyable experience when using SoundCloud
  • Developing new features in conjunction with our Product Managers
  • Developing and directing prototypes to enable a quick and iterative process
  • Working with the Screen Designer to make sure that your designs are not only as simple as possible, but beautiful as well
  • Communicating and documenting new features and updated interactions in an understandable format to the rest of the team
  • Ensuring that your flows and interactions are implemented with the developers as planned

Requirements:

  • BA/MA in a relevant field
  • Work experience within a company that developed mobile apps and websites for effective human interaction, not just designing for aesthetics
  • Ability to understand complex processes and to develop them into simple user interactions
  • Deep understanding of what it means to design for mobile in all its diversity. -You know the nuances of iOS, understand the interaction paradigms of Android and the possibilities of browser-based mobile applications.
  • Ability to document your work in an understandable format and communicate it to Product Managers and Developers (i.e. you should have experience in producing wireframes, storyboards, mockups and prototypes)
  • A strong and clean visual design sense and the ability to work well within a holistic design team
  • Solid knowledge of HTML, CSS, Javascript

Not necessary, but a big plus:

  • You gained solid experience in user testing through your previous work
  • You have a simple and clear command of language and are able to communicate with the user in a precise and friendly way
  • You are a sound creator – whether you make music, collect strange but beautiful sounds, or simply like to share stories with the world
