Senior Data Engineer // Marley Spoon

We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer for our team in Berlin, which will help us bring delightful, market-fresh cooking back to the people. Marley Spoon uses technology to reinvent the global food supply chain to reduce unethical food waste and connect consumers with quality producers faster to provide fresher food. In order to achieve this, we are solving challenging problems in taste profiling, behaviour prediction, and real-time logistics.

We are currently building up our data engineering team with the goal to massively evolve our DWH infrastructure by integrating relevant data sources and support our stakeholders in using our analytics visualization tools. In the second step, we will move towards a bigger data-oriented infrastructure and will apply machine learning to offer our customers an even better service. As part of the Product & Development team you will be a key person in enabling our departments to gain data insights, you will work with other data engineers to maintain and develop the system, you will write SQL code and create dashboards for our stakeholders, and you will take part in a fun, growing company.

Your Job:

  • Design systems and processes according to requirements
  • Implement, test and deliver yours or others design
  • Write python code to support extraction of internal and external data sources
  • Maintain our data warehouse and other tools
  • Write SQL code and build visualization for our stakeholders

You see yourself in (most of) these points:  

  • Substantial knowledge & experience in design & building DWHs and ETL processes
  • Substantial knowledge & experience in software engineer preferably in Python
  • Strong skills in design, implementation, maintenance of DWHs on Postgres or comparable
  • Strong skills in designing DWH data models
  • Experienced with Analytics visualization tools as e.g. Tableau, MicroStrategy, Looker
  • You are eager to continuously learn
  • You are a strong team collaboratorProactive personality with a focus on getting things done
  • You have a structured way of working
  • Good communication skills also to non-technical stakeholders

Awesome extras:

  • Experiences with event architectures & Message-subscribe systems like Kafka
  • Experiences with cloud infrastructures as AWS (e.g. Data Pipeline, Kinesis, Redshift)
  • Experience with big data infrastructures (e.g. Hadoop, Spark, MapReduce)
  • Experience with machine-learning
  • Knowledge of agile methodologies as Kanban or Scrum
