System Engineer – Linux (m/f)

About the job

As Helplings new System Engineer, you will be responsible for the administration and improvement of our Linux platform. You will ensure flowing operations of our server infrastructure as well as implementing new systems and features. Your daily tasks include ongoing system and application administration deployments, monitoring as well as problem analysis and resolution.

In detail, your main tasks will be the following:

  • Implement and maintain the infrastructure for highly available and scalable web projects including testing and documentation
  • Develop new-generation real-time metrics as well as monitoring and alerting systems
  • Closely cooperation with developers to discover and fix bottlenecks and solving delivery issues
  • Provide extensive failure and recovery analysis and documentation

Who we’re looking for

  • You have gained at least 3 years of professional experience as a Linux system engineer in an environment serving a high traffic site
  • You have proven experience in
  • Managing MongoDB, MySQL and PostgreSQL databases
  • Bash and at least one other programming language such as PHP, Ruby, or Python
  • Designing and maintaining cloud infrastructures on AWS
  • Designing and deploying Docker containers on Production
  • Infrastructure monitoring (e.g. Nagios, Icinga, Munin, NewRelic) and logging systems (e.g. Logstash, Graphite, statsd)
  • Dealing with Nginx, particularly in combination of PHP and Ruby, and you gained experience with SaltStack or any other configuration orchestration system
  • Risk assessment and security vulnerability mitigation
  • You speak English fluently
