Engineering Manager – Web Platform (m/f/d)
This is a full-time position based in Germany or Poland. We are a digital-first organisation and support mobile and flexible working.
The Web Platform Team is responsible for the foundation of the ResearchGate experience. We are dedicated to both our product team colleagues as well as the 22M+ members of our researcher platform. Topics like user experience, web performance, developer experience, maintainability and continuous innovation are our daily concerns.
Our mission is to enable every product engineer to efficiently build reliable, performant, user-friendly features that can be tested and monitored easily.
What the role is about
- Lead a team of 7 engineers in UX Engineering, PHP and frontend infrastructure
- Create a positive work environment based on transparency, accountability, and trust
- Guide your direct reports’ functional development by creating development opportunities, mentoring plans and by providing timely and actionable feedback
- Take ownership of your team’s satisfaction, motivation and the retention
- Be a partner to the Technical Product Manager for our internal Design System and a variety of different technical solutions owned by your team
- Be hands-on, when appropriate, to support the delivery of new features and improvements
What we’re looking for
- A great team player with an agile mindset
- Previous experience in leading agile development teams, ideally at least 2 years of experience as a people and delivery manager
- Prior experience with CSS, PHP or managing an in-house Design Systems is a plus.
