Python Backend Developer // Mika

September 25, 2019

We support people affected by cancer. Driven by a sincere vision to improve well-being and therapy results of people dealing with cancer, we are building digital support solutions to help during this difficult time. Fosanis is a VC-backed startup based in Berlin founded in 2017 and has recently launched the Mika-app ( ) as mobile iOS and Android platforms.

We work closely with renowned university clinics such as Charité Berlin, physicians, associations and other organizations to bring the best possible support to those affected. Our work brings together a scientific and data-driven approach. A medical product in oncology requires empathy and personalized patient support.

The Data Science Team

Our data science team comprises years of experience in recommendation algorithms (plista, BCCN Berlin), digital health (Charité), teaching (CODE University), and statistical physics (FU-Berlin). We are taking a science-first approach to build a platform on which we can run clinical trials (A/B testing) matching patients – based on their behavioural profiles – to medically supportive content.

Your role

Our system comprises a Django REST API which drives the native Apps and a data processing infrastructure hosted on Amazon Web Services.

We need a Python developer who can help with a broad variety of tasks e.g. developing, setting up and maintaining microservices, building stable streaming data pipelines (ETL), creating dashboards or supporting the development of the existing Django backend.

The successful candidate will work with a modern tech stack (e.g. AWS Kinesis, Apache Airflow, Amazon ElastiCache, Flask + AWS Lambda + Zappa, AWS ECS and more).

This is an excellent opportunity to work on the intersection of Python-based backend, development, and data engineering.

Your qualifications

  • Excellent Python skills
  • Experience with Django, Docker and (no-)SQL databases
  • (Preferred) experience with Flask and the AWS tech stack
  • (Nice to have) experience with CloudFormation or Terraform

What we offer

  • An office in the center of Berlin
  • Open and friendly office culture
  • Flat hierarchies in an amazing, international, and caring team
