Product Manager Medical Device (Software) (m/f/d)

Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women, both in Germany and worldwide. At AURA Health Technologies GmbH we develop state-of-the-art ultrasound software based on artificial intelligence, which may help physicians make better decisions. Our software offers significant diagnostic and therapeutic added value in the process of breast cancer therapy. After successful proof-of-concept and completion of Phase 0 we are now entering Phase 1 of the medical device development process.

Now we are looking for a Product Manager with a long-term mission on building an AI-based ultrasound software product. You will be in charge of collecting customer needs and translating these into stakeholder as well as product requirements. You will support the product release cycle and drive new initiatives towards delivering a great medical device product. You will be reporting to the Director of Product Management and collaborate closely with an experienced team of software developers, machine learning engineers, quality managers, scientists, and business developers. This is a great opportunity for a product manager to take a prominent role within our product management and development teams and help us meaningfully change how ultrasound-based breast cancer therapy works. Become part of our team at our location in Berlin (up to 75% remote possible).

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Collect and formulate product requirements, including user stories and acceptance criteria for the software development and machine learning engineering teams
  • Manage a product release roadmap. Ensure that the roadmap is aligned with the company’s vision and strategy
  • Conduct market research, customer development, and user interviews to get insights and generate new ideas and hypotheses for the product
  • Create and validate hypotheses for the product changes
  • Recruit and collaborate with key opinion leaders in breast cancer to gather user feedback and support clinical studies
  • Contribute to Go-To-Market strategy and help produce marketing materials
  • Act as product evangelist both internally and externally
  • We have several clinical sites in Europe and the US; willingness to travel required at times

Skills and competencies

  • Hands-on experience in writing detailed product requirements documents (PRDs), user stories, and acceptance criteria
  • Ability to understand industry and market trends and apply those insights in product development
  • Ability to analyze data, find and validate hypotheses
  • Ability to understand complex technical concepts and implications of business, design, and technical decisions
  • Ability to learn fast, collaborate cross-functionally and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience with Agile (SCRUM) methodology
  • Full professional proficiency in English
  • German is a plus

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required since the Product Manager has to communicate with team members, other departments, upper management and future consumers of the company’s products
  • Expertise in the medical device industry and market including specific technical or industry knowledge
  • Superior project management and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain a keen attention to detail, multitask and work well under pressure
  • Natural tendency to be curious, positive and creative
  • Team player who collaborates well with others
  • Sincere empathy for the customer and a commitment to delving deep into the challenges they present or experience
  • Knowledge in ultrasound technology and clinical trial design is a plus
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field is a double plus

Success Measures

Within three months, you will have

  • Familiarized yourself with the breast cancer landscape, wire and non-wire lesion localization techniques and the significant unmet need in surgical breast cancer treatment
  • Understood machine-learning based live ultrasound detection of desired objects
  • Reviewed existing product requirements and made plan for further requirements collection
  • Helped recruit key opinion leaders in breast cancer surgery and radiology
  • Helped set direction for entering product development phased 2+3

Within six months, you will have

  • Completed testing with alpha and beta versions of the product with future users and collected further requirements
  • Helped prioritize product requirements for the initial release and created a release plan
  • Helped to plan further testing and made substantial contribution for entering the clinical trial phase
  • Helped recruit new team members
