Village.Berlin is a respectful and caring queer community center in Berlin. We provide spaces for individual and collective exchange, self-exploration, healing, expression, play, art, and activism – both online and offline. Our focus is on embodied learning, creativity, and fostering meaningful connections between people.
With we are village – queer matters digital, we are developing an innovative digital ecosystem that redefines community-building for queer people worldwide. This project is more than just traditional outreach—it’s about creating a digital product that connects people and fosters participation in new ways.
As the Product Manager, you will play a key role in shaping the evolution of this digital ecosystem and our digital strategy. Working closely with developers and the we are village team, you will ensure the platform supports further growth, while delivering a secure, inclusive, and empowering user experience.
You’ll have the unique opportunity to deliver meaningful impact, working in a product that mixes cultural, social, creative, and commercial goals. You’ll be building a community, not just measuring clicks and conversions.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to shape the product vision in collaboration with we are village’s leadership.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders (communication, creative direction, event management, project managers, etc.) and freelance developers
- Perform discovery and user research, using quantitative and qualitative techniques.
- Translate vision, feedback, and data analysis into a clear digital product strategy and roadmap that fosters further business and member growth and community engagement.
- Foster a culture of agile product development, responding quickly to user and stakeholder input.
- Lead a small cross-functional team of freelance developers and volunteers, becoming the driving force behind the digital strategy at we are village.
- Proactively communicate to all stakeholders the progress of the different initiatives, constantly creating alignment and fostering consensus.
- Establish KPIs for product success and user satisfaction.
- Ensure all technical developments meet German/EU data protection and accessibility standards.
- Manage the product backlog and prioritize iterative improvement initiatives based on evolving needs.
- Test and perform basic QA for new features and improvements.
- Troubleshoot and act as a second line of support for bugs and issues reported by users to we are village’s team.
- Manage the publishing of the we are village mobile app in both Google and Apple app stores.
- Raise support tickets to third party vendors.
- Document several aspects of the digital operations (how-to guides, strategy documents, etc.)
- Perform occasional content management and content troubleshooting.
- Oversee the seamless integration of new and existing vendors into the digital ecosystem.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience (3+ years) in product management for e-commerce and/or SaaS platforms.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams, including developers, content managers, and project managers.
- Experience with the WordPress ecosystem.
- Experience with both web and mobile products.
- Experience with tools like Jira or similar product management software.
- Knowledge of Airtable.
- Strong organizational skills, able to juggle different priorities and find the right path forward.
- Fluent English. German and all other extra languages are a plus
- Willingness to learn and go the extra mile, working in a product like no other, mixing social, cultural, and commercial goals.
Desirable Skills
- Familiarity with LGBTQIA+ communities, intersectional inclusion, and the unique challenges facing marginalized groups.
- Experience working with non-profit funding structures and project evaluation processes.
- Knowledge of data protection regulations (GDPR) and digital accessibility standards (WCAG).
- Experience working in multi-stakeholder environments, particularly with volunteers, external experts, and freelance team members.
- Experience handling mobile app store submission process.

The position of Product Manager (TVL12) is currently funded at 50%, but for a suitable candidate we are open to combining it with another senior digital role (TVL11) in the team to reach full-time. In this case we would like our future colleague to analyse and improve our workflows and software integrations for our internal digital tools and digital processes. (currently: WordPress, Google Workspace, Airtable, Slack, various AI tools).
